Welcome to MATH 2310-205: Calculus III, this Spring 2024! For the most up-to-date content, please refresh the page at each visit!

Note: Each written homework is worth the same as one MML assignment.

Written Homework 3

  • Due date and time: Due at the beginning of class on Monday, April 8.
  • Use your own paper and staple the sheets together. Please put some space between problems so that your answers are easy to read.
  • If you always do your written homework using a tablet, then you can show me your work on your tablet before class or during office hour.

For each of the following eight questions, copy the actual question (from your individual MML). When writing your solutions, explain your work and show your steps. Please use black or blue ink (or a dark pencil).

Five problems from MML Section 17.1:

  • MML Section 17.1 Question 3. Sketch by hand ten vectors or more (enough to see a general shape of the vector field).
  • MML Section 17.1 Question 4. Explain in your own words (or copy word-for-word) the “Help me solve this” explanation for this problem.
  • MML Section 17.1 Question 5. Show all work, using the same methods explained in Problem 4.
  • MML Section 17.1 Question 10. Compute the gradient field and also draw a sketch.
  • MML Section 17.1 Question 11. Compute the gradient field and also draw a sketch.

Three problems from MML Section 17.2:

  • MML Section 17.2 Question 8 (work along line segments). Show all work for computing the definite integral on your paper.
  • MML Section 17.2 Question 9 (work along part of a parabola). Show all work for computing the definite integral on your paper.
  • MML Section 17.2 Question 11 (flux across a circle) parts (a), (b), (e) only. Show all work for computing the definite integral on your paper.

Students are encouraged to discuss the problems with each other and with the Math Center tutors/instructors, but each student should write up their own solutions.

  • Use your own paper and staple the sheets together.
  • If you don’t own paper notebooks, then you can show me your work on your tablet before class.
